How to make Uzhunthu Adai | Urad dal Adai



Uzhunthu adai is the healthiest and tastiest dish. We can give Uzhunthu adai as a snacks to the kids at the evening time instead of frying snacks. We can give it as a breakfast or dinner to the toddler.

Soaking time : 1 hour
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Total times: 1 hour 40 minutes
Course: Snacks | Breakfast | Dinner
Cuisine: South Indian recipe

Ingredients:
(1 Cup = 150 ml)

1 Cup urad dal
1 onion, Finely chopped
1 tblsp Pepper
2 sprig Curry leaves
Salt as needed
Oil for cooking

Preparation:

1.       Wash 1 Cup Urad dal 2 times and soak it for 1 hour.
2.      Transfer Urad dal to mixi jar or Grinder, Grind it as a smooth paste. Transfer  the batter to the bowl and keep aside.
3.      Grind pepper as a powder and keep aside.

Method:

1.       Add onion, Pepper powder, Curry leaves and salt to the batter. Mix well
2.      Pour one ladle of the batter and spread it like Omelet. Spread it thick or thin as per your choice
3.      Add 1 tsp of oil or ghee across the edges. Cook on medium flame
4.      When it cooks on one side, flip it and cook on other side as well
5.      Serve Uzhunthu Adai  with coconut chutney.

Notes:
  1. We should not add water in this batter.
  2. Uzhunthu Adai will cook on medium or low flame otherwise it will burnt
  3. If you need you can add green chilies in this batter which is optional
  4. We will also add egg in this batter. It will give more tasty. If you need add egg otherwise we can skip to add it.
